Virginia Tech fell into a world of shit today as dozens of people got mowed down by a single guy with two pistols. A........single.........guy.

The campus is a gun free zone. It just shows what can happen when the people are robbed of their right to defend themselves. Because crazed killers don't respect laws, especially when they intend to kill a person, or thirty...

Consider in the fact, too, that they didn't cancel classes...

This kind of thing really shouldn't be happening...

I think that legislation is not enough. There are so many gun laws, it's difficult for even a law abiding gun owner to know if they are in violation of any of them. For instance, do I need to own a trigger lock? Do I need to store the ammunition separately?

I think that the information probably wasn't easy enough for the killer to access. Maybe he wouldn't have killed all those people if there had been SIGNS POSTED declaring the school a "gun free" zone. Someone should have shouted, "HEY, THIS IS A GUN FREE ZONE!!!" Everyone knows that crazed killers will do the right thing if they only are made aware of new legislation.

I thought you were serious in the first sentace of the second paragraph, at which point I was going to have to type a 5 page disertation on why you are an idiot....

Guns dont kill people, people kill people. A gun is as responsible for a crime as a car or any other inanimate object. We dont need more laws. We need less laws. If ONE professor or student would have been armed, they could have put a quick end to this shit. Sadly, the media will convince the ignorant that this is a case for more gun laws...

CRIMINALS DON'T FOLLOW GUN LAWS, NO MATTER HOW MANY YOU MAKE...

Truely a tragedy...

When I read it in this mornings newspaper I was shocked too. It's sad. And yes people kill people, but without all those guns out there, there wouldn't be so many people killing people.

I don't think people should be able to have guns to protect themselves.
I also know many americans won't agree, but hey, Dutch people will problably never get that Wink

The nut job even gave clues to his mental state in his creative writing class. Rolling Eyes
I don't care what gun laws they have or might make, the only ones those laws will hurt are law abiding laws.

Let me ask you this, when you pass a law making guns illegal, whom are you taking guns away from? A)criminals and people who would use the guns for crime. Or B) The law abiding citizens who legally own guns to defend themselves?

And if you were B would you want to be disarmed? Statistically speaking, towns where every household has to have a gun by law have far far less domestic violence, violent crime, and just palin crime in general. Also gun deaths in those territories are significantly lower. Go fig huh?

I spent 9 and a half hours watching that on CNN at work. 33 dead and 39+ injured, last I heard? It's the worst mass shooting in US History. My mom sent me a text message saying, "WHY do men ALWAYS get the order of operations wrong? First kill SELF, then use remaining energy to kill others. It is simple!"

I wouldn't want to be armed in the first place. Wink
The less guns the less gunshot deaths, as simple as that

In a utopian world.. Sadly, in the world we live in, the math is a little more complex than that. You're not gonna get the bad guys to turn in their guns//

Chinese invented gunpowder somewhere around the tenth century.. Criminals had guns from that day on. A little late to go back now... Sorry to burst you bubble..

I think it would be more appropriate in this immediate wake of the tragedy that we focus on the strength of the students and those who saved lives at the expense of their own instead of bickering about gun control. We can be petty later, folks.

As for my own .02, the title of this post is in terrible taste and shows a deplorable lack of compassion and respect to those that died and the families that are dealing.
