I have the above tattoo and wish to get it covered up (hopefully a half sleeve), I love black, gray shading, especially Japanese artwork. I know that tribal is hard to cover-up but if anyone has any ideas then I would love to hear them.

If someone can produce a TOP DESIGN I would be happy to pay for it.

Cheers

Stock reply...
Go to an artist who specialises in cover up.
Jap style b&g should work pretty well
Your artist will come up with a design with you, just talk to them and you can get something drawn up together.

TIM VICTIM is a good cover up artist at ALL OR NOTHING. Look him up. Between him and his colleagues they should be able to work up some Japanese-esque cover up for you.

Start saving your pennies.

Find someone who has a portfolio of both cover-ups AND artwork you like. Look at before and after (healed) pictures.

Can't stress this one enough - take enough time to look at pictures so perhaps at some point you can tell the difference between a well done and a poor cover up. No one can teach you this. Art is subjective, only you can say what art you like and why. And cover-up art is in a class of its own.

Lucky for you japanese is very popular.

Speak with the artist you like about what you want. You may be looking at some laser work. Shocked

Good Luck!

I have a permant marker, I could just color it all in and make it one big bar. Then you could say it shows how deep you are, having a tattoo that no one understands.......

Actually my old boss had a 6 inch thick black armband tattoo in memory of his parents.... just a big black band, nothing else. Could have done so much more.

How did it relate to his parents?

I think it was something about how people wear a black armband sometimes to signify mourning... so he got a tattoo of one. ruined some great real estate.

Actually, the black armband occured to me before. Instead of having a shit "wannabe something else" cover-up why dont I go Hawaiian/Polynesian kind of vibe. Here is what I came up with for starters.... The white areas will be skin and those red line i am unsure about.....

I think that's a really unattractive design. Just my 2 cents....

you can ask to get it covered with white first. It will lighten it up and the cover up would be much easier.

good luck

Where are you from, actually where do you live right now?
I had a larger tribal then that and now it's a water scene with a big shark, mermaid, divers, craps, etc.... It can be done and done well...you need to find an artist.
