To address the 'modification" question:
Yes, If you brought me a picture of someone else's tattoo, I would demand it be modified before doing it.

As for price:
I get about $250-350 for a similar piece in that area, depending on the person and several individual factors.

Well what mods could i make to the thing, i know its not right to take somebody elses tattoo, are you thinking color modifications or design modifications? As for pricing what does it most depend on? Time working on it or what are you saying with several individual factors. Thanks for the reply

The possibilities for mods are only limited by the artist, really. I design tribal pieces all the time.
What the price comes down to is time. So many personal factors are taken into account. How big is the person? Is their skin smooth, or are they covered in craters? Are they going to sit still, or will I have to keep stopping every 5 minutes and chasing them around the room? Do they want to talk about Nascar? Are they going to ask me to play Skynard? Laughing

lol, well what would you say to 18 6ft 180 lbs, good talker, can tolerate pain, i mean if you cant you shouldnt be there in the first place right? So its really all about communication with your artist? thanks for your help, and Badwolf, if you could give me some of your ideas that you would do for mods on this tattoo, you seem to know ALOT about them and how they would look from reading your other threads. Thanks for the help!

a factor that nobody has yet mention is your actual location (i.e. city/state/region). I know that around a city, Badwolf's price is pretty dead on. In a more rural area (i.e the small college town I live in) something along those lines runs about $150-$175. Look around, but be sure to pick your place based on the artist's skill, not the price.

CxCx, I live in a small town around 5K people, sidney montana, yeah.. its pretty sad lol, we have more cows then people!! so if that gives you any kind of idea, but i dont really trust the tattoo artists around here, after reading up on things you guys have talked about on the forums i went and checked all the tattoo parlors out and none of them are really that "sterile" you could almost call some of them kitchen scratchers? So I decided on going down to Rapid City, South Dakota.. My cousins have had alot of there tattoos done down there, and all of them look really good, so im thinking thats where i will go. Hope that helps you out! Thanks for the info guys

Yes, price is not always associated with quality. One guy in my area (and everyone else's, it seems) seems to want to be the McDonalds of tattooing. He wants to open a studio on every street corner in every town, and since there arent a lot of people who are legit tattooists, he will eventually staff the place with whoever he can find. Then you pay what the owner 'mistakenly' thinks HE is worth, which is ridiculously high...while having what is basically an apprentice do the work. Their reputation is going downhill, but many people will get screwed in the meantime.
On the other hand bargain hunting is not a good thing.
It's buyer beware...which is why I am here.
If I can help people be safe and eliminate a few idiots along the way by bankrupting them, I will have contributed to the art form.
