Hey Sublime....You will have to understand that prices will change from state to state, as well as from shop to shop. My suggestion would be, that if your tattoo artist is one that you trust, and I hope that they are, you should just give them what their asking. Your not buying shoes, you are buying a piece of art that will last your life time. If you feel that you are being charged too much at that shop, look around. But remember, just because a tattoo is cheeper at one studio than another, doesn't mean that you will receive the same quality work. Always look at your prospected artist portfolio. If you like the quality you see, then trust the price is a good one.
A CHEEP TATTOO ISN'T GOOD AND A GOOD TATTOO ISN'T CHEEP. |

| Hey, thanks for the response I've heard it varies from state to state ect...I live in oregon, and I won't know the price for a few days but was wondering if anyone here could give me an estimate of what they think its worth so I don't get ripped off...I'm gonna go to another shop tommorow and see what they say it will cost me, but if you have any clue what you think it should be worth if it were done by a "good" tattoo artist just let me know and how long you think it would take? okay thanks. and happy 4th! |

Another person copying someone else's design. I would laugh you out of the shop. _________________ I just want to retire, buy a boat..Maybe shoot a few dolphins |

Here is a guy claiming to have such a great job, making six figures a year, with a Harvard education, and his main worry is PRICE. Then he downs tattoo artists for not giving a discount. I think it is clear who the loser is, here.
Gotta scrape together a few paychecks to get that stolen tattoo, sublime? |

It depends on the size of the tattoo, how much color they have to put in the tattoo, and where the tattoo is going on your body. The bigger the tattoo they more the shop will charge. Here in Georgia they charge about 110.00 and hour for anything really big. You have to understand that if the tattoo is worth having you are going to pay for it, and it won't be cheap. But then again you will have it for the rest of your life. To give you and idea, my husband wants a flamming phoenix on his upper back, from shoulder to shoulder. The artist told him it would take about 4 sessions of 4 hours a piece he could either go per hour of a 150.00 or a total of about 850.00 depending on how much color and time he wants done to phoenix. So just check around with the shops, until you can find a price you can live with. Just remeber the cheaper the price, the cheaper the tattoo might be, and you may end up having to get it redone at a later date.

don't search around for the best price! Find the artist you like and pay whatever they charge. A professional tattooer doesn't build a good reputation or a business by ripping people off.
The going rate for custom work here in Texas is about $100-$120/ hr.
Some more, some less.
Good Luck. |
