PostPosted: Sun May 13, 2007 4:04 am    Post subject: New Tat Idea. Some help? Reply with quote

So, even though I am freaked about getting another one because of the reactions I had to the last two, I have been doing a lot of research on tattoo places around south Florida and a little north of me. When I find one that I feel is good, I had this idea for a new tat that I need a little help on. Some people on here have talked about getting their child's actual handprint on them. I want to do something like this with my dog. I want to get her real paw print tattooed on me. The question I have is, does anyone know the best way of getting this done to get the most accurate (sp?) print for the artist? Stamp pads? What kinds of ink? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never thought about anything like that. I'm not sure what would be best, but my advice is to make sure it's non-toxic and to wash it off asap. An ink pad might work, but would probably be tough to wash off. Out of curiosity, what kind of dog do you have?

Thanks guys! I have a Shiba Inu. Hopefully I can get my hands on that ink they use for people's prints, but I have no idea where to even look for that. This is a picture of her. Her name is Kiko.

just get ordinary kid proof poster paint. The non toxic can be eaten and not kill the kid kind. And make sure you wash your dogs feet well afterwards with a good pet shampoo. We've had several people do this idea for cats and it has worked well in the past. Get several different prints that way your artist can decide which will tattoo the best.

Thanks! I will definitely do that. It might be a while until I get it because I need to wait for a break from swimming. I will post pics as soon as I get it though!

She's nine months old. And you're right about the energy level. Sometimes, she runs laps around the house as fast as she can and it's the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, but it's so cute. She's my best friend.

Very cute dog RhiRun!!!

And I like that idea for a tattoo. I would love to do that but I have too many dogs to make my tattoos that personalized.
I have a dog angel and a cat angel and will be getting 1 more cat and 3 more dogs. But even though I am getting one for each of my initial goup dies, the angels are more of a generic variety instead of breed (or pet) specific.
That's because I also do rescue work and will probably end up having more pets beyond my first six.

That's awesome. I will ask my artist if that would work alright. We'll see! Hopefully I get my pay check this week. Smile
