I have shea butter and sensitive skin (a lotion will probably develop a rash), should I use A&D for the first few days and then switch to the shea butter, or should I not use the shea butter until after it has peeled?

It's been a while since I got my first few tats, but a week ago I got another on my forearm (almost full length inside forearm). Now I was told to use bepanthem three times a day for two weeks. I used bepanthem on my last tats but not 3 times a day and I don't think for 2 weeks.

Anyway like I said it's a week later and been using bepanthem twice a day. I have no scabs it's just flaky and itchy as all hell. Should I stop with the bepenthem and move onto Vaseline Intensive Care?

Just read through this. On my back tattoo... Should I apply the wrap method?

When you say antibacterial soap... do you mean the handwash stuff you can buy that comes out as a liquid? Can I also use a shower head to apply the soap then rinse?

I use Vaseline Intensive Care - Aloe Fresh... that's okay right?>

Wow! Great info folks!!!! Twisted Evil
I've used Bactracin with great results on FRESH tattoos & the plastic wrap method. I like using the Bactracin under the plastic to AVOID infection!!! (You're setting up a perfect enviroment for germs to grow under that plastic wrap!!! Wink Hence the Bactracin! Twisted Evil )
Like you said, where the tattoo is depends on how long I'll wear the plastic. & I almost always wear plastic over a Tattoo to bed for the 1st 3-5 days!
I over did the "Tattoo Goo" several years ago on 1 of my pieces (& I'll have it touched up pretty soon). It kind of "muddied" the tattoo. Sad Believe me, I learned my lesson on over ointmenting!!! Laughing
I've used about everything on my tattoos. I'm always experimenting with lotions, potions & oitments!!! Twisted Evil So You'd better believe I'll be trying the Cocoa Butter/Shea Butter/Lavender oil recipe!!!! Wink (Equal parts of all 3 ingredients????)

On my Star Wars 1/2 leg sleeve, about 4-5 days after it's been worked on, I've been using vitamin E oil, cocoa butter & some Emu oil, & I've had some pretty good results! Twisted Evil

Also remember, ALL soap is antibacterial!!!! Wink I like using comfrey soap as it soothes & moisturizes.

Here's another question; Have you ever used just Emu oil on your tattoo? & What were YOUR results?

Started out liking Tattoo Goo, but, by 3rd day it became unpleasant
to apply. Switched and tried for the first time: Curel Continuous
Comfort Fragrance Free lotion. Love it! Tattoo healed great and
had no itching problems like i usually have with healing tattoos...

Thanks for the info Tattude.

I just get nervous when looking after my tattoos. I've heard so many horror stories about people who wash their tattoos and the scabbing falls off taking parts of the tattoo with it.

I think both of my tattoos have come out fine. I didn't apply any wrap method, but I think I might just do that for my back tattoo.

If you take care of the tattoo correctly you'll never have a "hard" scab to even worry about. wink

The wrap method works great in hard to reach places or places that rubb on clothing all day...

Tattude - A quick question... when my tattoos were healing - I would have lots of scabs literally falling off of my arm!! Sometimes hanging on by a thread... and then they'd just fall off... are they the "hard" scabs that shouldn't be occuring?

With the wrap... do I keep the wrap on ALL day? Or do I take it off, wash and apply lotion, then wrap again. a few hours later take wrap off, wash etc... Do that a few times a day?

What would happen if I decide to wear a tight t-shirt to cover the tattoo when wearing shirts for work etc?

I'm also going to London on Saturday (and am having some tattooing done tomorrow) which means i will be VERY limited to the amount of times (if any) i could wrap my back... should I wrap (in a mummy type style) once for the whole day?

thanks for the reply.

for my last tattoo, all i did was apply common sense shea butter lotion

i was gonna buy the pure shea butter, but it was to "hard" for my liking, i like how much easier it was to use the lotion. i didnt use any bacatracin/a&d etc...

results are great imo. almost 2 weeks and i have jus ta few more sports that need to heal. ill be posting new pics by the end of the week

It's because it was just your outline. I did that with mine too.
It "will not" do the same for the color/shading aspect of the tattoo.
