I own a small Tattoo shop and the flash I have came from cherry creek and my teacher.Don't shoot me....I got on ebay and bought 1500 sheets of bootleg flash.Most of it is ok but I would like to find a place to order nice color flash with out paying $200 for 50 sheets.I know it would take me trw or three Tattoos to make my money back,but I like to save money on things like that to keep my price down.Also in my town what I like to call table top Tattooers is all over and the city don't want to do anything about it.I would like to find some way to shut them down or make them go through the same tranning I had to take.

Damn, you have a lot to learn.
The reason people like tabletop scratchers are thriving is because people like you are harming people in the tattoo business, and throwing cash at rip-off artists who are bootlegging flash on ebay. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. When you support people who are merely capitalizing on the art when they really have nothing to do with it, and patronizing people who supply to scratchers, YOU ARE SUPPORTING THESE TABLETOP TATTOOISTS. You are feeding them.
Keep bargain hunting for crappy reproductions and supporting these scumbags, and then have the balls to bitch about them putting YOU out of business???! What about the people putting Cherry Creek out of business? You deserve whatever you get.

| I am not sure way this Badwolf guy thinks my small shop is about to go under because of the table top guys??Then he has the balls to say I am harming people in the tattoo business, Least I took the time to learn how to Tattoo before I went over to Spaulding and Rogers and payed like $350 for there starter kit.Have you thought about them selling to people off the street?I have got to say that is kinda stupid.It is crazy that people in the Tattoo world are so cut throat!As for Cherry Creek going out of business, If missing my order makes them shut down maybe Badwolf can help them out.Don't get mixed up with some (Gun and Ink redneck asshole in Ga.) There are something I need to learn, I bet you don't know everything there is to know about Tattooing! |

Were you an artist before you became a tattoo artist? If so, I'd expect you'd understand how wrong it is to reproduce someone elses art and sell mass quantities of it so that the original artist gets very little compensation for their hard work and effort. Bootlegs hurt.

Those people are drawing negative attention to the business. And they will eventually put you AND EVERYONE ELSE out of business (legally, at least) if it keeps up. If you don't think that is possible, then you haven't been in tattooing long enough to know. It has happened BEFORE.
As for your role in it, when you support these assholes who rip off legit tattooists and try and capitalize on a business they are not otherwise a part of, YOU BECOME THE PROBLEM. You create a small part of a bigger situation which will eventually harm you. You should only patronize people who actually have something to do with tattooing, and not some fucking drug addict who decided to suppliment his income by infringing on a flash companies copyrights. If you do not have the experience to see that, YET YOU feel these "tabletop tattooists" are bad, then perhaps you need another apprenticeship.
Stop supporting those assholes, and Spaulding and Rogers (their shit is expensive crap, anyway) and start supporting professionals who do not do business with scratchers, and you will have a right to bitch when two thousand other shops spring up around you and none of them can tattoo. Until then, you ARE the problem, and have no right to bitch. |

bootleg flash is just that so ya know copyrites protect some flash companies {cherry creek for example} can [and have] sued studio's for using copied flash {boot-leg}.
i know atlanta ga has a tattoo conv. every year 2 in fact one is tony olivas
show from sacred heart and im not sure who does the outher,any how conv. are a great place to get flash and meet the artist {usualy} that designed it . there are several flash suppliers that do Bulk discount as well.
i sell a flash set for my mentor / best friend that was murdered
it is 10 tribal sheet's plus some outher sheet's friends have donated to the cause you can go to www.theskinlab.cc for more info. or e mail me
{ps. if i caught some one selling copies of it YES i would be Pissssed!!!}
plus look around i know alot of outhers that sell their flash for reasonable rates.

i think you are nothing more than a glorified kitchen magician.
i can garantee you this.......no respectable and true artist would ever buy bootleg........for a ton of reasons that i am positive eludes your reasonong and line of thinking.......the apathy alone is MORE than enough to outweigh the cons in the situation........in which you so obviously have completely missed.
and then be so ignorant as to ask where to get more on an open forum. |
