What do you think?
Wow this guy is an IDIOT...suck it up and spend the money, Tattoo artists never make mistakes anyway, if he designs it it's what you want, weather or not you know it.

Hey guys, my first post on wha twill hopefully be my fourth tattoo. From what I've read so far I can see that this site doesn'y really put up with posers and B/S answers...which makes me VERY happy.

I would first like to make it clear that I have ZERO artistic ability. that said I ahve a vision for a tribal design I want to get across my upper back around the cross that's already there. the problem is that since as far as I knwo the design I want is origional (thank God) I need to get it drawn up. I know normally you should go to your artist and get them to draw it up but there are a few problems with that in my case. I live in a state where tatooing is not legal so I have to drive about three hours to get to a tattoo shop, farther for a good one as I found out after my first experiance, and that the shops even within that range are outragous on custom work, at least that's what it seems like to me. If you bring in a design already drawn they can copy it and ink it with a few hours of work...prices aren't to bad either...especially for the skill level, but anyway.

If you actually want them to do a custom design they need three weeks minmum (no problem I understand with everything happening they're busy) the total projected Price up front, only half refundable if the design comes out as somethign you don't want, and they will not accept an order by phone whihc means I'm driving a few hundred miles at least three times before I can get the design I want...on top of that if I don't like the artist's design I'm out half the cost right away.

so my question is any ideas on how I can get a tat designed? any guids to drawing tribals or programs (I'm great with pc art) for designing? would rather have it custom don, not opposed ot paying somone for their effort but I don't want to spend all that time and money to end up with an artist's idea that is nothing like what I want. cuase then the whole mess just starts all over again.

i don't know about anyone else, but that seems to be a really bad idea to give someone a sum of money to design something for you, and to lose that money if the artist dosn't capture what you were going for, as far as i'm concerned is bullshit.
Imagine a sign company doing that to their clients, it would never fly, and i know that this isn't how the one that my uncle runs operates... If you clearly tell your artist your vision of how you want it to look and he just dosn't get it, that's his fault, not yours... he should try again and check with you as he works on it... this time making sure to consult you on things.

if you aare good w/ pc design, i'd advise making a shape of the outside of the tat (ex. if you want a round one, draw a circle to the diameter that you want it to be), then within that circle find a point to begin from, be it centered, or wherever... then just draw a tribal design that you like within that area...

Every time I get back on here, it's spam spam spam. What is happening?

OK Tannim, having your tattoo artist design your tattoo for you, is my best suggestion. If you are not happy at one shop you go to, you should look at another, and another if you not happy with the one your at. If someone told me that I had to leave a total amount deposit, for my tattoo to be designed, I'd leave then. If it is a drive to get to other tattoo studios, because it is not allowed in your state, then that is what it will take for you to get you tattoo. Remember that this is life long, and isn't that alone worth driving to find the right artist?
As far as PC programs that make tattoos for you and such, I'm not sure of any. I do all mine by hand, and have never used any. Good luck to you.

uh...spam? did I miss something?

Anyway I know I need to find an artist to do teh design but like I said it was about three hours to TX and while I think the artist was great when I came in with a design I wanted I'm just not willing to shell out whatever it's going ot cost to get that tribal in the hopes of him actually drawing it out how I want it.

I'm not opposed to paying somone for the design, if I can pay a good clean artist that can turn around and do the ink even better, but I'm guessing this will be probably at least a $300 tattoo(hopefully I'm wrong) and while that may not be much to everyone else that's quite a bit to me, especially if half of it disapears if I don't like the design the artist puts out..

heh and as for the idea of me jsut drawing it myself...I've tried so many times...I honestly beleive that since there are guys like the artists tha just have so much talent, guys(and girls of course) that can ink anything...well you have to have the opposite Wink God took the talent I might have had and gave it over to somone else so that they're REALLY good and I'm REALLY bad.

I tried giving you an option for getting your tattoo drawn up and they say I'm spamming you. Thought I was only answering you.
Anyways, you can contact us and we'll work with you to get you the design you want.
Thanks,
KajinRose

I live two hours away from my tattoo artist, not out of necessity...but by choice. She's well worth the drive.

She also works with me on the phone and through email when I have an idea for a new tattoo. Try calling or emailing a tattoo studio that's somewhat nearby, and try having it done that way. At least you'll save a drive for the artwork.

You can always leave a deposit if you need to with a credit card.

Hope this helps.

Yeah thanks for the idea, lol I actually hadn't thought of trying any other places...like I said they are the closest ones that are actually good. and if I can get it done somewhere else that's a little farther but only have to drive down there once then it might not be so bad.

I'm glad I don't live in Oklahoma! Why don't you post a picture of the tattoo you already have with a description of what you want and what type of tribal you like. Maybe someone will respond with some artwork if they have nothing better to do....maybe. Artists are artists, when it gets slow they still are always looking for something to draw up..you might get lucky and find some custom art from here.
