Hey all... just wanted to take a second to share this picture. I was on a tattoo blog on Live Journal and someone posted this picture. The artist is Heather McLean. Amazing work...

I don't get the hand holding the feather. It's the ONLY piece with a solid outline, as opposed to using grades of wash for the effect of realism. The rest of the piece is AMAZING, simply awesome, but something about that hand urks me.

That's what popped out at me as well when I saw it earlier. I don't like the hand at all. It looks like a pencil sketch amongst stone... it's weird. |

Exactly! the hand, in and of itself, is done well. It looks perfectly fine. It just doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the piece and kinda detracts from the over-all feel of the work, which is a shame because, as I pointed out, the rest of the piece is freakin' great!

Very good, it's almost becoming a normalcy to see good work now though. It takes only a few seconds if you know who/where to look to see just as good or WAY better. _________________

Maybe the hand holding the feather is the transformation from the bird to the angle. But this is only what I could make if it holding the feather. But its a real work of true art on skin. The Bushranger.

The outline of the hand could be done to make it stand out--as if it is symbolically important.
