What are we voting on here? The quality of the work or whether or not the design is cool? Cause theres a difference, and I'm a little confused about which one is going on. (looking through the photos and seeing the ratings is a little funny, some really shitty tattoos [by shitty I mean poorly executed, not poorly designed] have high ratings, and some really good ones [well executed] have very low ratings.) What gives? This is not just an art people. It is a technical craft. After the design phase it's all about execution. It's like building a piece of furniture, or a house. You could have the most beautiful design ever, but if you hire an idiot to build it; it will still look like shit and fall apart in a few years. Tattoo's are the same way.

I agree as well and have noticed a low rating on great tattoos and high ratings on awful tattoos.
I know exactly what you mean though. I am not into tribal tattoos however you can't deny an awesome one when you see it. So instead of rating it low because I don't like tribal, I will rate it according to how it looks, etc.
I will say that if I see a picture of a possibly awesome tattoo but the picture is all blurry I give it a low score. |

Most of the time I look at quality. But there are exceptions.
JL please don't take it personally but I will take your cross as an example. Let's say his cross had an excellent quality. I would still vote it down simply because the design is horrible. By that I mean, it doesn't make sense, it doesn't look the way it was supposed to (i.e. JL's barbed wire looks like shoe lace).
Now let's take Tattudes tattoo (you know the one with the blue baby).
I don't like the design simply because it freaks me out.  HOWEVER, the design itself is not horrible because it looks realistic, the outlines are good, nothing's misshaped. I hope you can follow... I would give him an 8-10 because the quality is good and the design is good, ALTHOUGH I don't like it.
That being said, it dreally depends. |

| I agree with the misappropriation of tattoo ratings, but unfortunately we have no control over the idiots that may be rating them. Let's just take into consideration all the ridiculous posts we find in the "Tattoo" section of this forum. With that in mind, consider all the possible fools who are actually rating the tattoo pics. Enough said. |

| I don't bother voting for any of the tattoos. It's kind of a silly idea. There's no panel of experts voting here just a bunch of random people. |
