I could come up with a few comical (and insulting) explainations...but I'll bite my tongue. |

Let's be honest...it sucks. They shouldn't be tattooing. The studio is all wrong, and the "art" is sub standard. They are exactly the reason people should apprentice under a reputable artist. |
lol

I can only be so nice. Sometimes telling someone they suck is the most compassionate thing you can do...for all involved. |

I got a newsletter a while back from Tattoodles.com... I found it very interesting, truthful and relevant...
When I was 19 I fancied myself quite the artist. I had drawn since my first memories, had taken every art class in school I could and had been told by friends and family that I had a gift.
A local university renowned for its art department had an open "portfolio" day where representatives from numerous art oriented universities and institutes would offer a critique and info on how to apply to their school.
I didn't have much of a portfolio, but I threw some crap together and took it down there. Each and every person told me I was awful. Most did it nicely, but all the same the consensus was that I sucked. It was astounding, I was crushed. I wanted to cry and felt like I was 3 inches tall. I felt embarrassed that all these kids whose work was miles and mile better than mine had seen the awful junk I had been so proud of. And I was more ashamed still that those kids in line behind me had heard the representatives trying to gently tell me that I had no fucking skill whatsoever. It was one of the lowest points in my life to that point.
It was also the best thing that ever happened to my art. After a few days of feeling sorry for myself I realized that not only were these folks right in their assessment of my ability, but that somehow I had been completely unaware of how awful it was. My brain and ego had somehow convinced me that the rudimentary crap I was turning out was somehow great work. It wasn't, but now at least, I could see it.
And that's when my art started to get better.
I carried a lot of anger and resentment towards those representatives of art schools for years, but now I realize that without that burning away of my ego dream-world, I would have never taken a step forward.
In tattooing you inevitably come across people whose work isn't just simply mediocre, it's actually horrible. They repeatedly put out garbage and seem unaware of how bad it is. You wonder, "Can't they see how BAD it is!?" and of course, they can't. Its not willfulness or vanity, they simply have not had their eyes opened.
When you are a baby in the womb your world is dark, warm, and weightless. The moment you are born and that harsh white light of the world hits you, you are no longer an idea, you are a person. If you never came out of the womb, you could never grow or become truly alive.
And as an artist, if your eyes are never opened, you will never grow or become truly alive. And when your art goes on another persons body, your responsibility grows to encompass not only your own art, but that persons skin as well. Perhaps it's ok for a non-tattoo artist to toil away unaware of their abilities, but for a tattoo artist it is inexcusable.
To grow as a tattooer, you must be critiqued with your tattooing. You must be told that your masterpieces are trash. You must have that wall of defensive illusion destroyed from time to time. Without the purge of a wild fire a forest grows choked and stifled, and without the purge of a brutally honest evaluation your art does the same.
Every tattoo artist worth a shit that I have ever met turns aside any compliment like a man swatting flies. A comment such as "I suck" coming from the mouth of a person who does stellar work may be shocking, but is it worse than "I rule" coming from someone who subjects customers to crap work.
If you want to really help a tattoo artist, be honest.
Nice is a weapon.

It is good you can laugh about it...too bad it is all at your customer's expense.
I was curious as to why you put up a place for people to leave comments, yet you erase anything truthful and negative. Isn't that misleading? You invited the public to look at your site by posting links to it all over the internet, then provided a place to comment on it, so why censor it in your favor? I suppose people can just look at the work and decide it's horrible for themselves, but why mislead people by deleting those comments, instead of doing something about it...like learning to tattoo...or taking a few art classes? |

To answer your question, the reason that I closed the guestbook and locked the blog is because they were not intended for people to bash and try to mislead my potential customers. Are you crazy? As far as my customers are concerned, I have had nothing but compliments and thats all that really matters. By the way, may I please see some of your work? _________________ Ink Masterz Tattoo and Art Studio....We'll do your face! |

Saying your work is horrible and that you should not be tattooing is NOT misleading. It is a fact. As you have seen, the vast majority that have seen your scribbles would agree. I would imagine you get a few people who think you are the bees knees, but poor taste won't get you through forever. How many blind people are there looking for tattoos?
Are you actually PROUD OF THIS????
I'd stick a pistol in my mouth if I polluted another human being with some shit like that! I couldn't live with myself!
Not only have I never DONE a tattoo that bad, but with all the kitchen scratchers out there, I have never even COVERED OVER a piece of shit that bad. This is work a 3 year old could do.
I honestly do not generally comment on the artistic ability of someone. I usually stay within the realm of how clean someone is...but then, it isn't often I see a person this untalented scratching on people. I have been tattooing over 20 years, and you actually are the worst I have EVER seen...and I have seen some horrible messes.
Honest to God, I am a member of forums you will never be allowed into, and we critique each other's work all the time....and a piece that was a million times better than that horrible mess would get you throw clear out of the forum, and you would be ridiculed FOREVER.
If anyone here would allow this guy to tattoo them, please say so.....Let's have a poll. Yes or no....is this work horrible?
And you have seen my work. |

| Ide have to agree that the tattoo in question isnt very good. Sometimes I wonder why people even put things up for others to view. Personaly i would have left that one out. But on a further note I saw a pic you posted badwolf of 2 coi fish. Dont believe Ide have posted that one either. The splash of water going through the top cois head seems a litlle shakey at best and Im not sure Ive ever seen an eyeball with quite that shape. Oh and the little pink and white flower? was that added by your 6 year old daughter? But Im sure the tattoo was done in the most steriel conditions possible. Surfice to say if you look hard enough youll find fault in almost anything. Although I agree youll find a lot more in some than others. No ones perfect although we all strive for perfection. |
