let a child draw a picture and then have it tattooed on you? Or, would you fear that people would think that it was a tattoo done by an untalented artist and/or scratcher?
The reason I ask this is that I often see some tattoos that look as though they were drawn by a 2nd grader and have wondered whether or not they were meant to be that way. |

I think if the image means something personal to you then I would say go for it. If you're really worried about what others might think of it put it in a location where only you can see it. After all it's going to be for you and not everyone else. |

| Pick a good artist. A good artist will give you a 'done by a professional' looking tat no matter what the subject matter. I've seen excellent tats that people have that are exact copies of drawings done by their 4 or 5 year olds. No one would mistake them for amateur scratch. |

| My buddy got his son to write his name on his chest with a sharpie and then had the tattoo artist tattoo it into him... I personally think it's pretty cool. I would do the same if I had kids. |

Thank you. Thus far you are the only one who actually answered my question. I obviously did not post this for advice reasons, just wanted to see if people would do this.
Maybe I posted it in the wrong section, but I thought it was a tattoo related question. |

a kid i work with (black guy who is 24) got a tattoo done last week.. it says "only god can judge me" and it looks like shit. heres a few things he did wrong:
1. was done by a scratcher
2. it looks like it was written by a 4 year old
3. he didnt put wrap on it after he got tattooed.. waited 12 hours later (10 am) to do it.. and i told him that it has to be done right after..
4. he's using vaseline *sigh*
5. IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT..
i hate stupid ppl who get tattooed. he tried telling me about his tattoo and the person who did it.. i just walked away.. i dont talk to ppl that get tattoos done by scratchers |

I wanted to answer earlier, but I really had to think about it. I think I would do it. I don't know if it would be a whole picture, but maybe let the kid sign his name, kind of what Jamison's buddy did. I'm planning on a tattoo once the baby's born in Dec. and I would let him write his name near it.
My head hurts now. Please don't make me think again.

| My mentor let his five year old daughter tattoo him. He has a little T, just two lines, on his shin. Her intitial. She put the gloves on and had no fear. She's been around it enough. |

Thanks for the replies. Signatures seem to be the general theme for those who would partake in this venture. I myself would also let my children sign their names and get it tattooed on me.
I also think that a child's drawing of a family portrait would be a one-of-a-kind tattoo. |

I would definitely do it and would go find the best artist I could find I am sure they would make it look professional without changing the actual picture. |

I have a tattoo of a page out of a Shel Silverstein book. If you're at all familiar with his work you'll know it's not perfect. It's very raw. I suppose someone seeing my tattoo w/o the reference would make one think I had a shitty, misshapen circle on my hip. But it's just take straight from the source and it is indeed awesome.
Same would go for a child's drawing. At first glance and w/o a reference it would appear shitty, but who cares. |

That's the key there I think. Who cares what other people think. But so often people do. It's kind of strange. People come in to the shop to get a tattoo that's personal to them, they love it, they leave the shop happy, then they come back because their friends don't like it. Stop seeking approval from others.
We had a cute little blonde girl come in and get a scorpion on the back of her neck. She comes back all upset because her mom and employers didn't like it. These are the last people your going to get approval from. I thought that was the whole idea. It's a fucking scorpion.
If you like your tattoo that is the most important thing. Who cares what other people think. |
