I am a graffiti maniac. I sleep, breathe, live graffiti. i love everything about it. I have been writing since I can remember because I grew up into a graffiti infested neighborhood and couldn't help but notice it was there and was curious to know how it was done and the sneaky bit of it intrigued me and made me learn more. it is an addiction. Do you think I'm crazy?

So how do you feel about graffiti? many people hate it because it is defacing property, but I am not talking about the destruction part of it, I am talking about the art itself. Do you consider it an art?

here is a recent painting i've done on canvas, enjoy.
it says I Love New York if you are having trouble deciphering my lettering

PS it is for sale

I don't like graffiti on buildings no matter if it looks good or not. I enjoy to look at it on canvas though. It definitely is art.

Nice work Jay!

I prefer grafiti art on buildings and such. I can't ever read it, but that's where I like it.

yea I do like graffiti style art alot.
Infact, I'm thinking up a buisness and would be looking for a graffiti artist to do work on the outside of it.
I'd like to try it out also, on canvas.. but yea.

I like it. I wish there were districts in cities where the would allow everything to be covered in non-offensive graffitti and that it would stay clear of buildings and areas that already represent their own form of art, be it architectural or whatever. I dont believe you should deface someone elses property, but I would like to see some areas opened up to it. I enjoy the artwork, just think its shitty to tag somebodys business or whatever.

I love it on canvas as well.. I'd love a niclandscap graffitti peice for my living room.... ANd yeah, your peice is pretty tight...

I love graffiti as long as it's an actual piece someone worked on, not just some sloppy tag from a 12 year old. There's tons of it around here and lot of it is commissioned or just allowed to stay up because it's so pretty. Atlanta still has some free walls around but they're getting taken down pretty fast, which just seems like a really stupid idea to me, but whatever. This is a piece one of my friends did on a free wall in Boulder, CO when my best friend died two years ago.

I'm a big fan of fonts and calligraphy, but not focused on graffiti, it can be very cool art. I snapped this one when I was in a traffic jam.

I like that graffiti art is ephemeral. Once its on a canvas, its neat, but not quite the same beast.

In downtown Las Vegas, they have a couple of guys on the street doing the spray paint art. Always a crowd gathered around.

Well there is a place here in queens ny where you can scrawl out your name without any risk, its called 5ptz. A girl owns the building and its a factory with workers inside but she has rented out the entire building to a guy who goes by the name Meres who is great at graffiti piecing and he is allowed to have the building painted over and over. on the outside are the respected artists and styles, but any amateur can come along and tag the roof where noone can see it. I have visited this place many times just to look around, its truly amazing!

Thanks for taking interest in my canvas and this thread in general, didnt think many people would have any positive opinions on the subject!
