|

Similar to the "bands..." thread i started awhile back, but this time with specific albums. What albums did you LOVE and listen to relentlessly, only to eventually get shuffled out of your "Music Rotation", only for you to re-discover it later?
I'll Start :
Foo Fighters : The Colour and The Shape
I bought this album when it first came out. I didn't really dig their ST debut, but seeing the "Monkey Wrench" vid on 120 Minutes made me INSTANTLY need to have this record. Long story short, I bought the disc directly, and I LOVED it. From mellower tunes like the opener "Doll" and "Hey Johnny Park" to 60's style catchy soft rockers like "My poor Brain" to rockers like the aforementioned "Monkey Wrench" to mid tempo Rock Radio hits like "Everlong" and "My Hero", this album has it all.
Great music, thoughtful lyrics, solid production, it's all there.
I found this CD in an old box of stuff in our storage room and thought "man, i wonder if this still holds up?" DOES IT EVER! I literally found myself, at points, moved to near tears while listening to it (yes, even us "Macho guys" get moved by things de temps en temp) last night on the couch at 4 am in my own little world.
Sadly, this was the only FF record I ever got into. I may have to download some more to see if anything else they released messures up. Basically, long story short, if you DON'T have it, BUY IT! _________________ Just a small guy trying to get by... |

Cracker - both their self-titled first album, and "Kerosene Hat." Just some great, straightforward rocking songs, some great tongue-in-cheek lyrics. _________________ "The creation of mankind was the act of an egomaniac, plain and simple"

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Crannberries - No Need To Argue
Nirvana - Nevermind
EMF - Schubert Dip
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Blink 182 - Dude Ranch
Rise Against - Siren Song of the Counter Culture & Revolutions Per Minute
These albums I still have and still listen too often. EVERY ONE OF THEM I can listen too from start to finish without skipping songs which is RARE to say the least! Most albums only have 1-3 good songs on the whole album.
Depending on what I'm doing depends on which one of these I listen too. Getting tattooed is usually Rise Against.
When I'm mad at myself Metallica
When I'm mad at someone else Crannberries
Playing sports or on my way to play sports Blink 182
I love all these albums and if you haven't at least heard them yet you should give a listen. _________________

Another for me is just about anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn (RIP) Was watching a DVD not to long ago of a concert recorded in Toronto at some little club. It looks as though the music is being channeled through him from some unearthly source. At one point, without missing a beat, he swings his guitar around to his back, continues to play, and then a few minutes later back to the front still playing...absolutely amazing! Another guitar god lost to the world! _________________ Don't ask the question if you don't want know the answer! |
