Two days ago I got my first tattoo, a black rampant lion on my right shoulder. I have followed all the aftercare instructions carefully, but today I discovered that small patches of the tattoo seem greatly faded compared to the rest of it. Is this a normal part of the healing proccess? Will I have to get it touched up later?

Wait. It takes a few weeks to completely heal. Even when it is done itching/flaking/peeling, there is still new skin growing which may look "shiny" in the light. I'd say overall give it at least 2-3 months, then let you artist take a look at it and see what needs to be done. I got a tattoo in July that I'm just now getting around to getting touched up.
