So. I'm a first timer, and a newly baptised tattoo enthusiast. Im going to North Carolina,US this february, and was wondering if some of you might have some recomendations on tattoo shops. My first tattoo will be an arch-angel which will cover my upper back. Any ideas on what this will cost me? Thanks=)

Large back pieces can take upwards of 10 hours.... I'm not sure about your area, I pay $150 per hour (you can find between $100-300/hour), and I'm 11 hours into my piece already. And not halfway done.
How detailed were you thinking about going? Do you have some reference artwork so we can see what you are thinking about?

Price should never be an issue.
this is going to be on YOUR body forever. Scope out peoples work, go to who you like, and do it in sessions of $100 if you have to.
Don't downgrade because of the price. Your artist will work with you. Never settle for just "OK".

Oooh, I like! Depending on the size, that could be a 3-4 or a 5-8 hour tattoo, or even bigger. I like that the design looks very scalable to me. All I can say is I love bigger pieces because of the detail you can get. So I'm always suggesting bigger is better. I'm also a masochist, something to keep in mind!
The problem is that this is a vacation, and I don't have time nor money to sit there all day. Im quite new to this. I'm planning to use 200-500 dollars on this. All i really want is an angel, because it means something to me. I think it would fit on my back, but if that cost to much, I'll put a smaller one on my arm.

what?metal_xxx wrote:here they charge about 350$ pr hour
and how do u plan on showing the artist that tattoo? it has a band that flashes over the tattoo if u click on it.. so its impossible to copy, u gotta pay for it (trust me, i used tattoo johnny before) .. when i took my idea to my artist , she said they highly recommend that site for flash.. (yes i used flash but changed stuff on it )
anyways.. maybe u should save up some more money and just wait so u can afford to get it done all at one time?
