hey everyone.... how's everthing going? my name is stew and im a tattoo artist... ive been around tattooing since the mid 80's... i havent been tattooing that long!!!! got my first tattoo whaen i was 16... lied to the guy, joked with the guy alot and the others in there... he asked me to come back and hang out... so i did, 6 weeks went by and my mother found out, and that ended real quick...lol
so i went back to work airbrushing at a theme park... seasonal work ended up going into the army... stationed in germany, been all over europe... started hanging out at a local tattoo parlor there, helping out, cleaning up and learning the trade.... well neadless to say.... panama and gulf war set me back.... well after all that.... i went back to screen printing which i learnt in vo-tech and philadelphia art institute... got to work at some big companies... opened my own shop 5 yrs ago.... 2.5 yrs ago started to look for an apprenticship... 6 months of searching, and nothing doors slammed in my face.... just so happened a shop opened in my little town..... got to get back to what i was missing.... havent turned back... well the shop closed down cause i guess thats what happens when you have a non artist own a shop, and sorta wont listen to the artist.... worked at some other shops and met some nice people and met some @ss's.... had my equipment stolen.... so its been a fun ride.... and karma will kick someone in the @ss... im not the best at it, but i strive to improve in all aspects of the artform.... i dig all types of art, movie's and music.... i really cant stand the disrespectfulness (if thats the right spelling) of the perverbial kitchen magician.... the crap that people let these idiots put on them for less money or cause they are friends... ?????????

sorry!! about the long post..... my wife was watching that oprah thingy....
ya i tattoo... i apprenticed at alanthus ink here in williston, florida... down near gainesville/ocala area... they closed down after a year and half, so i worked at 2 other shops.... the one was in the middle of nowhere i did 8 tattoo's in 6 months... 2 of those being on wifes friend and one on my wife.... started working @ another shop in gainesville, they were suppose to supply everything... except machines and power supply.... for a lower amount of pay.. agreed, seen the potential for the money making.... after 2 months and using my own supplies, and the manager deciding to take my supplies to give to the artist at their other shop... and hearing the supplies are coming... i left... so to answer your question yes iam a tattoo artist.... for only a year, so i really consider myself still an apprentice.... and no im not working at a shop at the moment... this was long again... |
