| I've been seriously thinking about getting a tattoo, but I don't know if I 100% want something so perminate. I do know that ultimately it is only up to me to know when, if ever, I am ready. However, I am very interested in how other people decided for sure that they wanted to get a tattoo. I do think it would help me. If you'd like to share your first tat story, I'd appreciate it! |

Lots of different reason to go through with it. I used to be one of those that thought that people that got tattoos without meaning were stupid. I've come to realize that I was the one that was stupid.
If you really really like the design or it means a whole bunch to you for whatever reason, then go for it. All of us will have our personal opinions, for instance, I think all Kanjis/tribals/tramp stamps are lame, then again I'm not the one paying for em so whatever.
Me personally I worked on a design for a few years, had it all worked out in my mind (my artistic talent is that of a 4 year old) I gave it to an artist, he liked the design but gave me some sound advice on changing it up a bit and placing it differently.....(he was an apprentice) and it definitely came out a lot better than I had originally planned it, although it still needs a bit of a touch up to make it complete......
So all in all there's a lot of things to consider, your main concerns should be the quality of their work and the cleanliness of the shop. _________________

I didn't know. I merely suspected! I got my first in an easily hidden spot, but on my front, so it would also be easy for me to see. Since I get a big grin on my face anytime I catch a glimpse of one of mine. I knew more would eventually be necessary. But that first one, It was a big step. _________________ I for one welcome our robot overlords. |

There are some ppl who are completely averse to tattoos. They wouldn't get one for any reason and there's not a soul on this earth who could change their mind.
If you're not one of those ppl...you should get at least one! Try a small one at first in place where you could cover it if you wanted.
I just got my first one a month ago. I chose a smaller design just in case I couldn't take the pain or I didn't particularly like the idea afterwards. I'm not scheduled to get more work done to it so that it will cover a larger area on my upper back. The pain wasn't NEARLY as bad as I anticipated. In fact, there was just something intoxicating and addictiing about the whole experience.
If you're that close to getting one...go for it. Just make sure you don't pick a shitty design.:-p |

| I knew when my buddy whipped out a bottle India Ink and a needle. He showed me how and I did my hand. Turned out good. But then I picked the shit out of it and it healed like crap. How was I to know, I was only thirteen. |

When the Lady of the Lake held out the sword to me...
Actually, I'd always liked tattoos. I thought about getting one when I was 18 or 19, but wasn't sure what to get. After thinking about it for 4 years, I finally decided it was time to either piss or get off the pot. |

My two current tattoos are kanji, however I was learning about the japanese culture and writing kanji since 1993 (back when it was not popular). I used to impress the waiters at our japanese restraunt by writing things on my napkin. Since then I've done a lot of studying into japanese culture and it's had a huge influence on my life (try reading the "book of 5 rings" or "The art of war" by Sun Tzu).
My kanji do not mean "power" or "warrior" or something stupid and macho. But rather I had my wife's and son's names translated by professional translators.
Now I have to live with people who think that my tattoos are lame and gloss over that fact that I have them for higher reasons than they were a fad at the time, thanks. _________________ Scientists have known that what grows on a gamer's face is different from that of a man's.

I got my first tattoo at age 32, and three months into my own tattoo apprenticeship. I got it the day before I did my first tattoo because I thought it would be the height of hypocrisy for me to tattoo someone without having gone under the needle myself.
Mine was a blue rose of my own design with a banner that says "artist", and a small paintbrush going through it. My mentor did it for me on my left bicep. _________________ Matt Crunk

It would've been funny if the person walked in and said, "So, how many tattoos do you have?"
"Um... none."
"Seriously?" |

You mean the tattoo or the situation?
By the way, the first apprentice of mine to open his own shop did so a month ago (with my blessing, after working for me for five years) and he called it "The Blue Rose Tattoo Parlour" which was my own second choice before deciding on Ink City.
