Hello everyone,
I just got my first UV tattoo, and I am having my second one done in a few days. I have a question for everyone though. If you can see my posted picture, the done design is a wrist and hand design; very plain, 2-D style.. it's barbed wire with no shading. My next one is going to be a mirrored style on my right wrist, but of rope. Do you think it'd look best the same blocky, 2-D style - or maybe an outline 3-D style?
Thanks,
Kimberly |

Hi
A UV tattoo is one that is reactive to blacklight. It doesn't glow in the dark. Have you seen the blacklight posters? How they're normal until you put them under a blacklight, then they glow neon? That is how a UV tattoo is. If you get the colored ink, it looks just like a normal tattoo, until you put it under a blacklight, then it "glows".
I used the white ink only, and since my skin tone is fair, the tattoo is, for all purposes, invisible.
Of course, that is, until I put it under a black light.

not a problem. I've seen several regular tattoo's outlined with this... really cool.
I bought my ink at http://www.crazychameleonbodyartsupply.com
also you can check out UV pics at www.bmezine.com

You should research the chemicals used in the UV tattoo...
Just a hint... _________________ ~Bitter Sweet~ |

We've done a few Blacklight responsive pieces in the 2 years I've been at the shop a work at. In my opinion, it's like a black velvet Elvis : It has some appeal, but mostly has a kitch element. I don't think I'll ever get a piece done with it (as I've been under a blacklight....hmm....about 5 times in the past 23 years, lol) but, to each his/her own.
From everything i've read, Blacklight responsive ink is safe. Perhaps you're thinking of the "glow in the dark" tattoos that you can get done south of the border. From what I've read, the FDA has branded that paticular ink illegal in the US due to the high amount of Phosphorus, but that's all hear-say and speculation. Once again, not an avenue I'd ever go down, but to each his own. _________________ Just a small guy trying to get by... |
