OK, so I tattooed this girl last Saturday night. I did a small rose on her lower back right underneath an existing tattoo of her name in script that had obviously been done by a scratcher. Not the worst job, but not pro quality. It would have taken me all of fives minutes to go over it and straighten it all up so that it looked like it belonged next to the nice new rose I just did for her. So, I offered to fix it for free, just to be a nice guy, while I had my stuff set up for her anyway. But, she'd had a fairly tough time with the rose and decided that was enough of the needle for one night and declined my offer.

Well, yesterday she calls the shop wanting to know when she can come in and get her FREE name touch up that I'd "promised" her last Saturday night. Are some people really that stupid?

Free? Sucks, I have a piece I'm finishing today the girl couldn't sit for. I'm thinking of charging her more.

I still find this so crazy. Shit hurts no matter what. Might as well combine it all so you don't have to revisit at a later date.

My girlfriend sat through a nearly 4 hr color pounding on her ribs like a champ and some people can't even handle little lower back butterflies? Rolling Eyes

Yep, that's exactly what I told her. Otherwise it would be $50, our shop minimum.

Just venting.

So much dumb shit you have to put up with in this job. But I guess you get that anywhere you have to deal with the public.

Anytime someone ends a tattoo early because they can't handle it, we always charge the shop minimum for a new setup to finish it, no matter how little is left to do. Luckily, that rarely happens.

Matt, we do the same. And, same as you again, it's only happened a handful of times.

Very very true. Last night at work I was surprised I didn't have more customers running head first into walls from of the level of dumb ass behavior exhibited.

& also stories like this... I just don't get where people get the gall to say stuff like that. They really must not get it or they're just that big of assholes they try to get away with it.

HA! This gets my vote as well Very Happy

Matt, it sounds like you handled the situation as well as you could have. Dealing with the pubic is rarely easy, but it sounds like you made the best of it.

EDIT: I wrote "pubic." It made me chuckle, so I'm not changing it

I agree here too. That girl is just an idiot all the way around to think that you could do that for her. You never promised her. You offered it to her as she was sitting there finishing her other tattoo. People have no pain tollerance anymore.
