I have three tattoos on my calves, two on the outer and one on the inner. None of them hurt really per say, its a bit sharper when you get onto the shin but nothing I would say would put me off having more done there. I also have one from my chest over my collarbane and shoulder and that didnt hurt in the slightest. Nobody in the tattooist could belive that I just sat there and had it without any pain whatsoever. Razz I felt barely anything at all. But like you say, its all down to personal pain thresholds and what you find painful others might not. Surprised

They hurt
The longer you sit, the more it hurts.
Now go get some ink

Anything that makes you bleed hurts. Starting out it wasnt bad for me, in fact I thought I could sit all day. The longer the tatooing the more swelling and the more pain. I still love them!

My boyfriend had friend has his leg done.

My boyfriend said it didn't hurt (i think he was just playing tough) but my friend said he was never getting one there again. He has 12 tattoos and said that one hurt the most.

does it honestly hurt that much? iv had both my kneecap and ankles done and while both hurt to some extent there wasnt that much of a pain difference between the two (although buzzing directly over the kneecap did hurt slightly more)

There is a lot more issues dealing with pain then some might think; MORE then just placement anyway.
I have both legs covered and the back of one calf didn't hurt at all and the other KILLED. Same place, different leg.
Just like taking a test for school, a good night sleep, full stomach, a clear head are some of the little things most people don't even think about. They matter!
I've been getting ink every single Friday for a couple months now and some others on different days and have learned by trail and error.

I have several tattoos and I think when you start getting near your spine it hurts pretty bad. The breast isnt bad at all and the lower leg was tolerable. my right shoulder was a killer but my left i hardly felt. the tattoos are totally different and one took double the time and had a lot of detail. A lot of this depends on how long it takes to do the tatt. the longer it takes the more swelling and irritated the skin gets. this leads to pain.
once your in the chair youll be so excited you wont care!
post a pic when you get it!

Tattude,
I agree they can smart on the calves, especailly when it gets close to the inside or towards the back. one of mine has a feather that just touchs on the back side on it was pretty sensitive.
