| hey, i was wondering about anyones experience with having death/dark themed tattoos and any reactions from women. Curious if anyone has freaked out girls, gotten another negative reaction, or any reaction that would be different from them reacting to a non-dark tattoo? just interested in thoughts on this subject. thanks |

Im a girl, i have skulls, a severed head vomiting blood and a japanese demon that looks like a ninja turtle and sucks blood through your anus
Even if you got a daisy chain you'd get negative reactions from some people. People can be closed minded idiots. I guess the question here is what kind of girls are you talking about? If your into stuck up preppy chicks then yeah they probably won't like it. At the end of the day it's your decision and you have to live with it, and any reactions (positive or negative) it may bring you. If you don't think you could handle it don't get it. _________________ http://badtaste.deviantart.com

| i've received both good and bad reactions but overwhelmingly they have been positive. the thing about it is that most people know better than making a big deal out of my tattoos if it's in a negative context so more often than not if anyone does say anything it's positive |

| Nah, you should probably avoid anything that's "dark" and scary. Just go with rainbows, unicorns, and fairies. That would get you more chicks........ |

| Personally I don't think it matters to the content of the tattoo as long as it is well done. For example: I may not want to put skulls and demons on myself but I can certainly appreciate them on other people especially if the artist did a fantastic job. I think that more people are getting interested in tattoos...not necessarily for themselves but they are willing to talk to those who have them and find out more about it. I think that a well done tattoo can be a "people magnet". |

| I'm in the process of having some stupid work that I had when I was younger removed, but as soon as that's done I'm probably going to be setting up an appointment with Mario Bell or Darrin White for a horror themed sleeve on my left arm. I've thought about what my reaction from some people will be, but if I can handle the dirty looks I get from my ultra-religious mom over the tattoos I already have, I think I can manage a bit of hate from people I don't know or care about. Besides, the chicks I dig the most are into that kind of stuff anyway. |

Off The Map Tattoo has a good section in their Get the perfect tattoo essay about this kinda stuff. I think everyone who are thinking about getting tattooed should read it
| Quote: | Subject Matter and Projecting Energy
Another thing to contemplate, especially for larger custom tattoos, is the 'energy' that the tattoo will express, or the message that it will convey. This may sound a little cheesy, but it's still worth noting that the subject matter of your tattoos will project a certain 'vibe' about you into the world, especially to any up-close viewers of your tattoos. Just like a painting is meant to affect the viewer, your tattoos will affect their viewer, even though you may have gotten them solely for yourself. Images of death and destruction are very powerful, as are those of beauty, but the former may lead other people to stereotype you in a potentially worse way than the latter. Therefore, give proper thought to the images you choose to adorn your body with for the rest of your life, and be sure that you can live with any foreseeable consequences. In no way are we attempting to reinforce or justify unfair social stereotypes of certain tattooed people by mentioning this, but you should be aware of the social conditions that you live in, to determine what you do or do not want to deal with. |
